Delete your IndianMarriage account
You can delete your IndianMarriage.com account yourself, on the website or in the IndianMarriage app. You have 30 days to change your mind.
How to delete your account
- Sign in to IndianMarriage.com, or open the IndianMarriage app and sign in.
- Open Settings; the Account tab opens first.
- In its Danger Zone section, choose Delete Account and confirm twice.
You can also use Delete My Account in the Quick Actions of our Privacy Policy while you are signed in.
The 30 days after you ask
Your account is deactivated straight away and your profile is hidden from other members. We email your registered address to confirm, with a signed link that cancels the deletion.
You can cancel at any time in those 30 days by opening that link. If you are signed in, Settings also shows a Cancel Deletion button. Cancelling restores your account as it was before you asked.
When the 30 days are over, the deletion runs on our next nightly job and can no longer be cancelled. We then email you a deletion certificate.
What we delete
- Your profile, photos, videos and personal details.
- Your messages and conversations. They disappear for the other member too.
- Your matches, interests and saved items, your uploads, and your verification documents.
- Your links with a partner, on both sides. Your partner keeps their own wedding plan.
What we keep, and why
- Payment, refund and invoice records are kept unchanged until 31 March of the eighth financial year after the payment, as tax and accounting law requires, and are then deleted.
- Subscription and commission records keep their plan, status, dates, amounts and references; their descriptions and notes are removed. Notes on a booking payment are removed too.
- Our security records (the audit log of account activity) are kept.
- A minimal deletion record: an internal account number, a one-way hash of your email address, and the deletion certificate's number and date, so that we can show the deletion took place.
- Safety records about your account: reports other members made about you, suspensions, warnings and moderation-queue entries are kept, because other members' safety relies on them.
- Records other members rely on, without your words: a vendor keeps the facts of a booking (date, amounts, status), a review keeps its rating, a support ticket keeps its number and status, and a report you filed stays with your name removed.
If you are a vendor
While other members still have upcoming bookings with your business, a deletion request is refused: settle those bookings first. If a booking is still upcoming when the 30 days end, we keep the records it needs until the booking date has passed, your account stays deactivated, and the deletion can no longer be cancelled. We email you when that happens.
